Our Worship

In our weekly gathering, we join as a community to praise God in song, read passages from the Old and New Testament, and listen to a clergy member unpack a Scripture reading in a sermon that relates God’s word to our lives. We then take communion, where we share bread and wine in a weekly celebration of Jesus’s death and resurrection. The service concludes as the church is sent out into our communities, homes, and workplaces to share the love of God with our neighbors.

The Anglican tradition may be new or unfamiliar based on your experience of church services. We follow a liturgy, or a structured routine of written prayers, songs, and scripture readings. Our liturgy is written in modern, accessible language while remaining rooted in profound, ancient patterns of worship that date back to the first centuries of the church.

Though Anglican liturgy provides a regular pattern of worship, not every Sunday is the same. Just like in life, the church year moves through several different seasons, which guide us in remembering and celebrating events in the life of Jesus. In recognizing these seasons, we can better understand our lives as part of the bigger story of the faith spanning several millennia. We remember all God has done throughout history and continues to do in our world today.

You have made us for yourself, and our hearts are restless, until they can find rest in you.

 FAQ

What should I expect?

We are a kid-friendly, multi-generational church where anyone is welcome. Our service lasts for about an hour and a half, including a 20-25 minute sermon. Our service has two parts, the first half focuses on Scripture readings, the sermon and a time of community prayer. In the second half, we pray over the bread and wine and receive communion, concluding our service by praising God for his love revealed to us through Jesus Christ. Musical worship is interspersed throughout the service.

What about my children?

We have a nursery for children from birth to 4 years of age staffed by vetted nursery workers. We value having our children participate in our service, so you are also welcome to keep your kids with you if you’d feel more comfortable. Kids ages 5-10 stay through key parts of the service like the reading of Scripture, musical worship, and communion. During the adult sermon, our kids are led out into another space for a children’s chapel where they sing songs, listen to a lesson from scripture, and pray for one another.

What kind of music do you have?

We view the whole history of Christian music as a treasury to enrich our worship. We sing an assortment of contemporary songs, classic hymns, and ancient songs done in a contemporary, acoustic style. A key piece of our worship is also singing the psalms, which were the hymns of ancient Israel and have nourished the Church for 2,000 years.

What should I wear?

Feel free to dress however you feel most comfortable. Most of us dress casually, but some of us class it up!

What if I don’t know anybody?

That’s ok! We’re a welcoming bunch, and we know it can be awkward to try a new church. Feel free to jump right in or just observe.

When do you have communion?

Our church has communion every Sunday. If you are a follower of Jesus who has been baptized and committed yourself to following Him, you are welcome to join us in taking communion. If that isn’t where you’re at right now, that’s totally ok. We are thankful you’re with us, and we long for the day where you might join us in communion as a follower of Jesus! Please feel free to come up to the communion line and we’d love to pray a blessing over you or you can also stay seated during communion.

What if I don’t know where I am with Jesus?

We’re a community of people on a journey with Jesus, ands we respect that folks are at all kinds of different places on that journey. We want you to feel comfortable with us learning, leaning into community and seeing if this is a place where you feel you can grow spiritually in community.
